Jehovah, and Watchtower Dishonesty
by Maximus inhere's another example of how the society uses selective quotations.
(see the thread blood, the watchtower and deceit for two other examples, carefully documented.

Is There A God? Who Cares?
by Kent inthe question is not that important.
a better question is "is there a known god?
i don't care.

Kent, why is it that you produce such a blizzard? Why in the world start a thread like this after all the others you've started?
Good posts get buried in the process, shoved way down the board, makes it very difficult to find them.
You have a keen nose for what is good.
Censor yourself by presenting the best and forgetting the trash.
Like Farkel, I believe you would maintain your credibility better as owner of a website too. Use your power wisely rather than thoughtlessly.
Surely you do not want to turn away more persons than you attract. That's self-defeating.

The Truth about Venice

To look at the parts and not at the person is ultimately demeaning, no matter how well the object of our attention may accept it.
It's time to "knock it off," this time.
I can only imagine the pain of coming out of the organization in the way she has. Her story of courage is most moving and will be most memorable to me.

Blood, The Watchtower and Deceit
by Maximus inwhile much attention is given to doctrine in sites such as this, very little is noted about the watchtower societys intellectual dishonesty in its publications, especially when it comes to quotations.. oftentimes the societys writers will cite a scholar or author of some repute: "professor blank observes that blah, blah, blah.
" the reader assumes from the quotation that professor blank is in agreement with the organizations position, of course, and that the quotation chosen accurately depicts the authors thoughts.. heres the catch: the words between the quotation marks may be accurate, but the snippet may not at all faithfully represent someones actual thesis or position.
much like a newspaper ad for a movie that quotes a reviewer as saying "monumental!

Teejay, thank you for your kind words.
This information really is hard to take in. The Watchtower banner reads
ABSTAIN FROM BLOOD
"What part of that sentence don't you understand," they say. And then they proceed to say you can take fractions!
When you read the Bible, you find out from Acts 15
THERE WAS NO GOVERNING BODY
D'oh. No scholar has ever claimed there was! Just us Dubs.
In fact, Paul had to counsel those we claim were the GB. My study shows that the Watchtower articles introducing the elder arrangement were written to give some scriptural rationale for divvying up power. Made it easier to diminish the power of the president, Knorr.
That's another story.
Thanks for the warm welcome,Jerry

Questions, questions.
Have I found the pony at the bottom of the pile?
The Governing Body is or has been redefined as "those who take the lead"
whether anointed or other sheep?Otherwise they have to scrounge for someone to replace
Swingle and Klein, and the other elderly as they die off such as Schroeder and Barr, Jaracz and Swingle.Wonder if this will be announced at the annual meeting.

Difficult to believe but I've proved it for myself. Thanks for giving me the http://www.jwbloodreview.org
tip. When I take that big step back backward from the slogan we've heard for years and years, "abstain from blood," and all the argumentation involving Noachian law/covenant/principles, Mosaic Law, the Apostolic Decree, I have better perspective. Icome down with a kernel of truth.
Blood is a symbol of something. Surely everyone agrees on that.
The reality is human life, precious to God.
The symbol cannot possibly be more precious than the reality. Therefore,
SACRIFICING A CHILD'S LIFE COULD NOT SHOW RESPECT TO GOD.Plain and simple, I will no longer wait for a Governing Body majority vote on the future of myself or my children.
Now I have grave concerns about a Governing Body. Fleshly relatives of mine have been in the organization since the 1920's and are of the anointed. To my shock I have learned they have never accepted the changing doctrines on blood, and yet I know no more loyal Witnesses. One of them said last night, "Well, the Governing Body never asked my opinion."
The equation FDS=GB is not a Biblical formula. That's the long and short of it, Waiting.
Have I missed anything in the above reasoning? I really appreciate the help of each one of you.
Jerry
Thought of something to add. Does anyone know why the New World Translation changed from "keep yourselves free ... from blood" to "abstain"?
Is there something in print on this that I've missed? Can't find it on any search.
Thank you. -

I say again, thank you, Sir Hawk. When anyone e-mails I assume the response will be posted here. Unfortunately one can guess what it will be.
It's been a long but informative day, ending with mixed emotion, but it's good to know someone is doing some very deep thinking in the field.

Thank you, very much.
Took you up on all suggestions, a worth while if jarring experience. I have access to an excellent library. I guess the very fact everyone has to post anonymously, including me, is quite damning in itself. I thought the spirit of Christ brings freedom.

My apologies for not being able to read all threads here.
For those who do, can you tell me if this article or essay has been refuted elsewhere on the board?
Do you view this as credible? Believeable?
I'm most sincere in this inquiry. I have grave concerns about the JW blood doctrine.
